ink and watercolor on paper 11.5" x 8.5" For over ten years Claire Loder has been making bodiless heads. Memory, contemplation and melancholy are perpetual undercurrents. Narrative plays a significant role in her work: spoken and written language and the transgressive role of comedy offer up many starting points. Pieces are slab built, with some elements constructed by coiling or sculpting. Most of the sculptures are single fired.
