James has developed his furniture and cabinetmaking practice for more than a decade since graduating with an MFA from UC Irvine in 2012, where he focused on making sculptural work. After completing art school, he established a woodshop in Los Angeles where he fabricates artworks for a number of contemporary artists and peers, and where he has been honing his craftsmanship and knowledge of traditional woodworking skills with functional pieces of furniture and cabinetry.
