Artists bios:
Rob Clayton, born in 1963, graduated with honors from Art Center College of Design in 1988.

Throughout his career he mainly focused on painting and sculpture. Printmaking, processes he has always had a passion for, is his focus of late. While printmaking’s intention is often perceived to be for the creation of multiples, Rob is creating spontaneous and unique one off narrative images using mono print, adding drawing embellishments to each original work, resulting in a collection that imbue a sense of the aggregation of inky fluids and colorful solids.

Rob currently lives in Fort Davis Texas with his lovely wife Frieda Gossett and 3 chihuahuas.

Frieda Gossett

Frieda grew up in a town called Hygiene in the rectangular state of Colorado.

It should go without saying that she is quite clean. But not when it comes to art.

She discovered leather tooling in elementary school and surreptitiously bought a Tandy Leather beginner set of tools. Too eager to drink in the glory of the kit at home she opened it on the school bus. As the box ripped open the contents squealed in delight and escaped the bonds of shrink-wrap and cardboard. A less than biblical exodus to the floor of the bus, giggles of joy could be heard from the dung beetles, rolling and romping the tools into hiding as the bus rocked and bucked.

Needless to say, those giddy tools were left behind as Frieda fled the bus in shame. Forty years later a memory of this tragedy resurfaced while she studied at Art Center College of Design in the early 2000's. Abandoning the shame and embarrassment of that event, she changed the world of leather crafting into an ology that no other ology can rival: Dermatology.

Welcome to the new pieces by Frieda Gossett!

As with most of my leather pieces, these drip with irony. While there might be iron butterflies (a few may know what I speak of) my leather Butterfly Kites merely fly about walls, pollinating them with beauty. The Bat Kites harken back to my “goth” youth. The Bat-elope is my ‘took you long enough’ take on the Jack-elope. The Owl Kite is one of my best pieces so far. Owls are beautiful and magnificent! This piece is inspired by the Barn Owl. I was raised in a barn and left many a door open for owls to come and go through.
