Alex, a half-German, half-American artist, is the product of a hitchhiking romance and a lifelong explorer. Influenced by global cultures, she blends French sculpture, Moroccan pigment, Scandinavian simplicity, and Japanese refinement into her work.
With a background in communication and psychology from USC, Alex initially pursued a career in tech at Google, drawn to the innovation of software engineers. However, her passion for hands-on creation led her to leave the corporate world and reconnect with organic materials. Traveling the world, she crafted ceramics in each location, inspiring her brand, Made in Somewhere.
Her work draws from nature’s fluidity—snake scales, octopus tentacles, and the human form—capturing movement and transformation in clay.
